All Time Nets
July 8, 2008
With Malice, a big time Lakers fan recently posted his All-Time Lakers team and I thought it would be fun to make my own all time Nets team. I think other bloggers are also making their own all-time teams and I can’t wait to see their line-ups. Without further delay, I present to you my All-Time Nets team.
Starting five:
PG: Jason Kidd
SG: Drazen Petrovic
SF: Julius Erving
PF: Buck Williams
C: Nenad Krstic (lack of options)
Bench:
Vince Carter
Nate Archibald
Kenyon Martin
Rick Barry
Richard Jefferson
It was pretty hard filling up the positions especially the center spot. I think there’s really a scarcity in talented big men that played for the Nets in the past. Though Krstic is a pretty decent center, I don’t really feel that he deserves to be up there as an all-time great Nets player. His name is actually there just to fill up the center position.
I was thinking of putting Derrick Coleman and Keith Van Horn on the list but decided they weren’t really big part of the Nets. Coleman had too much off-court issues and Van Horn was inconsistent for most parts of his career. The two of them are can be considered to be part of the all-time team, but as of now, they are just for consideration.
I guess my Nets are not as talented as Redsarmy’s All-Time Celtics of With Malice’s All-Time Lakers, but that’s fine with me.
My team will probably get trampled upon by the other all-time greats, but I don’t really care. I had fun doing this and I know bright future is ahead of my New Jersey Nets.

Blue Eagles Nips the Rival Green Archers
July 7, 2008
The Ateneo Blue Eagles drew first blood against the rival De La Salle Green Archers in their opening game of the season. Veteran guard Chris Tiu captained the Blue Eagles and led his team for the 79-73 win over the Green Archers. Tiu led the game with 26 points including 17-19 from the free-throw line.
The prized rookie of Ateneo, Ryan Buenafe, scored only 8 points for his new team while Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Eric Salamat each had ten.
Coming off an injury, JV Casio led the Green and White squad with 19 points while Rico Maierhofer contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. James Mangahas chipped in 13 points and rookies Joshua Webb and Hyram Bagatsing added 7 and 4 points respectively.
Head coaches of both teams were slapped with technical fouls due to violation of new UAAP rules. La Salle head coach Franz Pumaren got the technical before the tip-off because he was “not wearing his ID”. Tiu drained the two technical free-throws before the start of the game giving them a 2-0 advantage even before the game started. Ateneo coach Norman Black was assessed with a technical in the third period after “complaining too much”. The UAAP apparently established new rules for the game that the two coaches were not aware of.
ANIMO LA SALLE!

Forrest Griffin Overcomes the Rampage, Wins UFC Gold
July 6, 2008
Forrest Griffin proved to the world of MMA that he’s more than just a reality star by beating Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson for the UFC light-heavyweight championship.
Days before the fight, Griffin was the clear underdog for the fight and some experts believed that Jackson will win the fight, at least based on paper. But Griffin stepped up for the biggest fight of his career and fought his way to capture the 205-pound world title by unanimous decision.
At the ring of the bell, Griffin took the fight to Jackson immediately; flicking some jabs and kicks to the head and legs of the champion. Jackson was caught off guard at some instances but was also able to throw some punches to the challenger.
Jackson’s left leg was pretty banged up by the second round and it was clearly bothering him. Griffin connected yet another kick to the left leg, this time really hurting Jackson’s leg. Despite the busted leg, Jackson held his own and fought until the final bell.
After the nasty exchanges for five long rounds, the fight was to be decided by scorecards. Two judges scored the bout 48-46 while the other one had it 49-46 all in favor if Griffin. The win improves Griffin to 16-4 and drops Jackson to 28-7.
