Prince’s double-double Effort Lifts Pistons in Opener Against Heat

Detroit PistonsShaquille O’Neal wanted to start the season with a win but the Detroit Pistons spoiled Shaq’s opening game.  Tayshaun Prince scored a career high 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Pistons defeated the Miami Heat 91-80 in the opening game for both teams.  Veteran point guard Chauncey Billups added 19 points and dished out 11 assists while Rasheed Wallace contributed 11 points for the Pistons.  Richard Hamilton did not suit up to play due to personal reasons.

The Dwayne Wade-less Heat struggled to find offense in their team.  Shaq was held scoreless in the first half and finished the game with only 9 points.  Udonis Haslem had 14 points and 10 boards before fouling out late in the fourth.  Heat newcomer Ricky Davis scored team-high 23 points but it was not enough to lift the team for an opening win.
