Miami Heat finally recorded their first win of the season at the expense of New York Knicks. The Dwayne Wade-less Heat struggled at the start of the season and went 0-5 before winning against the Knicks 75-72.
Miami’s Wade is still out for precautionary reasons and New York’s Zach Randolph did not suit up because of his grandmother’s death. With both team’s top superstar out, both teams struggled in the offensive department and the game ended with unusually low scores.
Jason Williams made a much needed jumper with 19 seconds left in the final period that earned the Heat their first win. He led the Heat in points and finished with 17 points and 5 assists. Udonis Haslem posted a double-double when he scored 16 points and grabbed 16 boards. Shaquille O’Neal and Ricky Davis added 14 points apiece for the Heat.
In Zach Randolph’s absence, David Lee stepped up for the Knicks by making 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Eddie Curry finished with game high 19 points. Stephon Marbury had 14 points and Jamal Crawford had 13 points for the New York squad.
Miami Heat (1-5) will be on the road to face the Charlotte Bobcats (3-3) on November 13.
New York Knicks (2-3) will travel to Phoenix to face the Suns (5-2) on November 13.
