Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas did not suit up to play against the Philadelphia 76ers because of swelling in his surgically repaired left knee . Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan made the announcement before the tip off against the Sixers that Arenas will sit out the game to give him more time to rehab his knee. Arenas, who is averaging about 22 points this season continues to have swelling in his surgically repaired knee. Coach Jordan is not rushing Arenas to play and he is giving him plenty of time to recover after all, it’s still early in the season to force Arenas to play and risk further injuries.
Not forcing Agent Zero to play early in the season is the right move for the Wizards. Arenas is their leading scorer and they cannot afford to lose him if he re-injures himself midway into the season. It’s a good move to let him take his time to adjust and recover from his injury and get ready for the rest of the rough and tough NBA season.
