The Washington Wizards have proven to the rest of the league that they can win against teams with winning records when they beat the league leading Boston Celtics 88-83 for the second time in three days.
The game was pretty close and was decided only in the fourth quarter when the Wizards outscored the Boston squad 29-20.
Caron Butler scored 9 of his 21 points during a 25-6 run in the middle of the fourth period and gave the Wizards a back-to-back win against the Celtics. Antawn Jamison had another double-double night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Butler and Jamison had plenty of help from their teammates. DeShawn Stevenson had 16 points while Brendan Haywood added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Antonio Daniels scored only 7 points but dished out 9 assists.
Kevin Garnett played strong and tallied 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists but had little help from his teammates. Paul Pierce finished with only 18 points and Ray Allen struggled in the game and finished with only 16 points on a 5-14 shooting. No other Celtics player scored in double figures.
Even with the loss, the Boston Celtics still holds the league best 30-6 record while the Washington Wizards improves to a 20-16 record.
