This is a non-playoff post. It nice to know that there is drama beyond the NBA Playoffs. I was surfing the net earlier when I read about two NBA stars getting in trouble with the law.
Net’s RJ Charged with Assault
New Jersey Net‘s forward Richard Jefferson was charged with assault after grabbing a man by his throat in Minneapolis back in January. Jefferson was in town on January 27 for a game against the Timberwolves when the incident happened.
According to report, the victim was having a private party as a local bar when Jefferson barged in. Jefferson got angry when he was requested to leave. Jefferson then shoved the man and choked him with two hands.
RJ is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on January 18.
Melo: More Trouble with the Law
Just weeks after getting arrested for drunk driving, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony had another brush with the law – this time, it’s speeding.
The 23-year old All-Star was pulled over after being clocked driving at 60 miles per hour in a 45 mph according to the authorities. Anthony do not have to appear in court if he can pay the $130 fine.
Anthony is scheduled to appear in court on June 5 for his DUI charge in Denver on April 14.
* This is really great for Melo‘s image as the face of the Nugs. He was arrested twice and got booted out of the playoffs in just one month! The Nuggets organization and fans must be furious.
