The Quest for Philippines’ First Olympic Gold

The 2008 Beijing Olympics will kick off in three days and I am writing this post to support all the Filipino athletes who will compete in China. The Philippines sent a limited number of athletes to China, but I’m pretty sure they will do everything and anything just to emerge as winners.

Here’s the list of the Pinoy athletes who will vie for the country’s first Olympic Gold:

Eric Ang – Shooting

Hidilyn Diaz – Weight lifting

Mark Javier – Archery

Harry Tanamor – Boxing

Henry Dagmil – Athletics

Marestella Torres – Athletics

Sheila Mae Perez – Diving

Rexel Ryan Fabriga – Diving

Tshomlee Go -Taekwondo

Marie Antoinette Rivero – Taekwondo

Miguel Molina – Swimming

Daniel Coakley – Swimming

James Walsh – Swimming

Ryan Arabejo – Swimming

Christel Simms – Swimming

The chances of winning gold are pretty slim due to the limited number of Pinoy athletes, but I know these guys will slug it out in China in hopes of capturing the first Olympic gold for the country.

Godspeed to all Filipino Olympians!
