Filipino amateur pug Harry Tanamor was ousted of the Olympic boxing tournament after losing to Manyo Plange of Ghana. Tanamor, a veteran of World Amateur Boxing Championships, started the bout strong but Plange got the better of him and won the fight after four rounds with the score of 6-3.
Tanamor was the lone participant of the Philippines for boxing and with his loss; the chances of the country winning its very first gold just became slimmer. Taekwondo jins, Tshomlee Go and Marie Antoinette Rivero are the only Filipinos left in the race top win a medal. Both are scheduled to compete next week. Good luck to both of them.
Though Harry Tanamor lost his chance to win the gold, I know that he did everything that he can do and that’s the important thing.
Kudos to all the Filipino Olympians!
