ALA prized-fighter Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista retained his WBO Intercontinental crown last night when he defeated Eden “Anestecista” Marquez of Mexico. Bautista opted to slow things down in the first round and asses the Mexican’s style. Bautista just threw only a couple of punches in the opener as Marquez pressured him with aggressive punching. By the start of second round, Bautista turned the table and unleashed flurries of punches until he floored Marquez. The Mexican challenger was up on his feet by the eighth count but seconds later, he was back on the floor after receiving a hard right hook to the head.
In the post fight interview, Bautista expressed his desire to be included as an under card feature in the Oscar Dela Hoya-Manny Pacquiao super-fight in December.
